Thank you for subscribing to Wu Fei’s Music Daily. This is episode #387 — Hammer and hooks 锤子和钩子.
This piece was composed and recorded yesterday on percussion and muted guzheng. Beside playing the muted guzheng in a normal way, I played the wooden body of the guzhengs again for most of the percussive tracks. When was looking around to find new sound element in the room, I found these hooks (see photo below) laying on the desk. After trying a few times to get a good sound and a stable place to hit them with my guzheng tuning hammer (in the photo) without them slipping away, I found a great sound for this piece. It is always fun to create music with surprises to myself!
