Happy New Year of the Ox everyone,

Thank you for subscribing to Wu Fei’s Music Daily! This is the 263rd episode — Cowbell.

Created and recorded yesterday on solo guzheng, this piece is to celebrate the first day of the year of the Ox. Many Chinese people around the world cannot be with their family this year during the lunar new year, including my cousins and friends. I hope everyone get to see their loved ones soon! Hope the year of Ox to be a better year!

A painting by Feng Zikai 丰子恺 (1898-1975). The 3 characters on the balloons are 开门红,they literally mean "open door red." It means to have a good success once something new starts like a new year, a new job, or a new business. The black characters 新年美景 mean New Year's beautiful scenery. And 子恺書 means Zikai’s writing. Feng Zikai 丰子恺 was an influential Chinese painter, pioneering comic artist, and essayist of twentieth century China.
