This piece was composed and recorded yesterday on 3 track, half muted guzheng, performed by me. There are so many living creatures around my home right now, especially bugs. This butterfly was enjoying the sun when I happened to be walking by. It reminded me of Zhuangzi, my favorite Chinese philosopher again.
This is the most famous of all Zhuangzi’s stories—Zhuang Zhou Dreams of Being a Butterfly:

Once, Zhuang Zhou dreamed he was a butterfly, flitting and fluttering. about, happy with himself and doing as he pleased. He didn't know that he was Zhuang Zhou. Suddenly, he woke up and there he was, solid and unmistakable Zhuang Zhou. But he didn't know if he was Zhuang Zhou who had dreamt he was a butterfly, or a butterfly dreaming he was Zhuang Zhou.
