#934 — A pendulum 筝摆

Upcoming concert at Yale Schwarzman Center announced

Hi everyone,

This guzheng étude was created and recorded yesterday. I designed a new scale to try different tone colors. My hands played an octave apart mostly striking the same pitches with occasional different pitches. When the pitch changed unexpectedly, there was a delayed surprise in my hearing. At the same second, it triggered me to shift volume from one hand to the other. I felt like a pendulum — I suspended my body from a fixed point to swing back and forth under the influence of the sound waves.

I would also like to share the info of my upcoming concert residency with Abigail Washburn at the Schwarzman Center at Yale University on 7:00 - 9:00PM on March 2, 2024. Concert details are available here. If you or your friends are in New Haven, we’d love to see you at the concert!
