Hi everyone,

I just recorded this guzheng night song. You might hear my husband opening and closing his car door at the end — I decided to just leave the noise in as a part of my improvisation.

I’d also like to tell you about a concert I’ll be playing next year on March 14, 2024 in Ghent, Belgium. You can buy tickets here; the concert description is below.

House of Wu Fei: Tides and Time

The première of a new creation by Wu Fei (guzheng, vocals), Mattias De Craene (sax), Dijf Sanders (electronics), Louise van den Heuvel (bass)

Every day, sea coasts around the world go through the cycle of high and low tides. From high to low and from low to high, every 12 hours and 25 minutes. Again and again. The forces of the moon have been doing their thing for centuries.

Chinese guzheng player Wu Fei is inspired by them. During the Made in China Festival, she will travel to Ghent for a week of creating with an impressive bunch of musicians:

Dijf explored the music of Java, Nepal, and most recently Georgia and made wondrous soundtracks with them.

Saxophonist Mattias De Craene just returned from Morocco where he immersed himself in Gnawa rituals.

Dishwasher bassist Louise van den Heuvel is greedy for all things adventurous.

This wonderful amalgam of influences and musically extraordinary personalities cannot but result in a wondrous concert.
