Happy Friday everyone,
Thank you for subscribing to Wu Fei’s Music Daily. This is episode #508 — Six gourds on a boat 六条葫芦船.
This piece was composed and recorded yesterday, performed by me on multitrack guzheng. One of my family traditions during lunar new year is my mother making a sweet sticky rice / dates dessert. This year, she made a 吉 dessert (photo below). The character means “luckiness”. After I had the delicious dessert, this composition was born.
I will be on the road to Purdue University to give a concert with my dear friend banjo player /singer-song writer Abigail Washburn when you read this newsletter. We will probably be driving through snow in Indiana. Hope you all are staying safe wherever you are this weekend! If you are in Purdue University area, come to see us play to celebrate lunar new year!
Date: February 5, Saturday
Time: 8pm
Venue: Leob Playhouse
