#504 — Tiger prelude 水虎序

Happy Monday everyone,

Thank you for subscribing to Wu Fei’s Music Daily. This is episode #504 — Tiger prelude 水虎序.

This piece was created yesterday on multitrack guzheng, performed by me. In two days, we will enter the year of the Water Tiger. I am utterly excited about this lunar new year, so I wrote this piece to welcome the big spring festival!

Speaking of big spring, I want to reach out to you about a project that I am excited to be working on and hope that you can collaborate with me on this. We all know and feel the power that music has to bring people together and we all know and feel how distant many Americans feel from each other these days.

The project is called Ear To The Common Ground and we are taping it this April in a barn, on Cash Ln in Music City in a special place that once was the home of Country Music Hall Of Fame members June Carter, Carl Smith, Marty Stuart, Patsy Cline, Jim Denney,  Mother Maybelle Carter as well as Carlene Carter, Cindy Cash and more. The series will air next fall on PBS and each of the 12 episodes will have one artist and one topic. Eight fans of each artist will come together and each will bring a dish to the table.

The series will highlight the wonderful diversity of America in many ways: ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, geography and most importantly the project will celebrate the diversity of thought and opinion.  Episodes will feature: Kyshona Armstrong, Gustavo Guerrero, Sam Lewis, Louis York, She Returns From War, Sister Sadie, Frank Solivan, Minton Sparks, SUSTO, Sweet Lizzy Project, and me.

We can disagree with our fellow Americans on issues but we can also break bread with them, laugh with them, respect them, have compassion for them and hopefully find some common ground. A show like this should be on television and now, it will!
Each episode is 30 minutes long and will feature a diversity of opinions on each issue: right, left and middle. At the end of the dinner party, I will bring a dessert to share and then perform a few songs in the spirit that music and food brings people together.

The issue that will be discussed in my episode is Immigration and the date is April 23, 2022 (Saturday). If you would like to be considered, you can reach out to producer Becca Finley at simplybbecca@gmail.com, or by text 843-819-7811. Please include your name, email, and {insert my name}.

Here’s some logistics for the guests will need:

  1. to be available in Madison, TN on your date, from 3-10pm,

  2. be willing to bring a dish to serve 8-10, and

  3. be willing to have a conversation.

I hope you will consider reaching out and joining us to show that the vast majority believe in compassion for others opinions over contempt and that, face to face, with humility and grace we can keep our ears tuned in to the common ground.

I know this is a big ask from your time. However, when the production team reached out to me, you were among the first group of friends whom I thought would have so much to share with the country and to inspire people, and hopefully to heal many hearts. It will be my honor to play music for you, enjoy each other’s food and accompany on the beautiful barn on Cash Ln (last two photos below).
