Qin Qiong bids farewell — Peking Opera

Hi everyone,

This is the 15th episode of Wu Fei’s Music Daily — Qin Qiong bids farewell. It’s from a famous Peking Opera called Three Families Inn or Sanjiadian三家店。The lyrics of the song are in the voice of Qin Qiong, a military general who is being led away to be imprisoned, lamenting that he will not be able to look after his mother, or reciprocate the friendship of his old friends and colleagues.

I learned this piece when I was a composition student at the China Conservatory of Music in mid-late 1990s.

I made this recording yesterday. It is utterly exciting for me to enter a new era of “orchestrating” all these voices in my head this way!
