Hi everyone,
I composed and recorded this three-track guzheng night song this morning. It is mostly played on open string harmonics. In physics, a harmonic is a sinusoidal wave with a frequency that is a positive integer multiple of the fundamental frequency of a periodic signal. The fundamental frequency is also called the 1st harmonic; the other harmonics are known as higher harmonics.
On the guzheng, I put my left ring finger on the mid-point of a string. Then I use the right thumb to pluck the string. I get the harmonic from an octave above the pitch of the open string, which is the 1st harmonic.
I enjoy creating and mixing different timbres from the strings. The tone colors sound dreamy to me. Hope this piece brings you a moment of joy!
