Hi everyone,
How have you been? I’ve missed you all! It feels great to be back home from another intense tour to the University of Chicago and Lincoln Center in New York City.
Both of the concert residencies were amazing. Lincoln Center live video broadcasted my concert with Shanir Blumenkranz. It was a magical night for me to play with one of the most talented and crafted musicians I know. Every time I play with Shanir, he takes me to a world I’ve never been before, and I get to discover a new musical self. If you missed the live stream last Thursday, below is the full concert on Lincoln Center’s YouTube channel.
If you are in southern California the week after next, I will be doing an artist residency at the Lou Harrison House in Joshua Tree from April 22 to 26. On April 25 at 8pm (U.S. Pacific Time), I will give a concert there with another long time collaborator, the phenomenal composer and guitarist Gyan Riley. Concert details and tickets are available here.

What a fantastic concert residency I had at the University of Chicago!
I loved the audience at my solo recital. I enjoyed meeting and listening to brilliant young musicians from the Jade Chinese Music Ensemble, and helped them to further prepare for their upcoming concerts. I got to perform for group of local middle-high schoolers who were engaging and asked wonderful questions during our Q & A. And despite the temptation to watch the solar eclipse on Monday, many people came to the lunch talk I gave at the historical International House at the University of Chicago, invited by the Center for East Asian Studies, University of Chicago.
Big thanks to University of Chicago Presents for making this residency happen for me. I’ve made wonderful new friends who are all doing amazing things for their communities. I will always look forward to come back Chicago!
I streamed the New York concert, and loved the diversity of musical genres you played, from traditional Chinese to Middle Eastern, to jazz, to modern improv, and pieces I don't even know how to characterize. Bravo Fei and Shanir!
